All of the Ploud themes allow you to include a background image in the header section of your site and add different background images for subfolders.
Recommended header image dimensions are 1400x200 pixels (1400 wide by 200 high).
To add or update a header image on your site:
- Navigate to the main page of your site.
- Click on the button which displays your user name in the top right corner of the page to open a dropdown menu.
- Click Site configurations.
- Scroll down to the sections marked Set Home Page Header Image and Set Home Page Header Image. These will only be visible while the Slate them is active on your site.
- Select the image you wish to add as your header. The Home Page Header will only show on the front page of your site. The Site Wide Header will display on every other page.
- Click Apply to save your header images.
- If you would like to use different header images in different sections of your site, you can add a file named "subheader" to that folder.
- Go to the folder in which you would like to add a new header image.
- Click on Contents.
- Click the Add Files or Images button.
- Select the image (in PNG, GIF, or JPG format) you'd like to use.
- Before clicking Upload, change the title of the file to "subheader" (with no extension).
- Click Upload.
- Click on the View tab to see your updated header image appear.
Using the Focal Point Pickers
We've included a Focal Point Picker, which is an interactive way to change how the image is viewed in the header. Sometimes the image you upload doesn't quite display correctly, especially if the image you upload is larger that the recommended size. We've included a Focal Point Picker that is an interactive way to change how the image is viewed in the header. After uploading and saving the headers for your site, you can go back into your Site configurations control area and scroll down to your headers and you will see a preview of the header you uploaded and the focal point picker below it:
Draging the blue dot around your image will change the focal point of the header image. In our example above, we moved the blue dot up a bit and the header image adjusted accordingly:
Once you are satisfied with the header preview, scroll to the bottom of the Site configurations and click Save.
Your new settings should be visible in the header. You can adjust the focal points for both the homepage and sub page headers independently.
NOTE: It may take some trial an error to get the focal point the way you want. The preview is a representation and may be a bit different than the actual results in your much larger site header.
You also may have to "super-reload" your browser to see the changes as your browser's cache may hold the old values. If you are not seeing the changes in your browser's header once you save the focal point settings, hold the shift key on your keyboard and click the refresh button on your browser:
This will force your browser to create a new, uncached request to the site and retrieve the latest version of the header.
