You can set a folder to be protected from a logged in user from deleting the folder. This protects from accidental deletion. Without this setting when a folder is selected for a delete a popup will open and request confirmation of the delete and show you what pages and subfolders within the folder will be affected. Even with this confirmation, folders do get deleted from user error. The only way to recover a deleted folder is to roll back the sight from a backup. This is not always desired because any changes to the site will be lost that occurred after the date and time of the restored backup.
Anytime a folder is created the option to protect the folder from deletion as well as protect the folder from being renamed will display all you need to do is check the checkbox to activate the feature.
To allow a folder to be deleted or renamed you will need to go to the folder and select edit and unselect the appropriate checkbox. Make sure to clcik the save button in order for the setting to take effect.
