Managing Folders

To Add A New Folder

  1. Make sure you are logged into your site.

  2. Navigate to the area of the site in which you would like to add the folder.

  3. Go to the green task bar above the content well and click Add new…

  4. In the drop-down menu, click Folder.

  5. Enter the title in the designated field.

  6. Add a description (this is not required but is recommended for item listings, searches, and ADA compliance).

  7. Click Save.

To Edit An Existing Folder

  1. Click on the Folder (either in a portlet or in its containing folder) to bring you to the page for that Folder.

  2. Click Edit at the top of the page.

  3. Modify any desired settings and then click Save at the bottom of the page.

To Delete An Existing Folder

  1. Click on the Folder (either in a portlet or in its containing folder) to bring you to the page for that Folder.

  2. Click Actions at the top of the page.

  3. Click Delete. A dialog will appear asking for confirmation. Choose Delete again to remove the Folder.

Excluding a Folder From Navigation Menus

  1. Go to the folder you want to change and click Contents in the menu above the page.
  2. Click on Edit in the same bar.
  3. On the editing screen, go to the Settings tab.
  4. Check the "Exclude from navigation" box and click Save.

WARNING: this will hide your content item from all navigation menus, so only use it if you do not want visitors to be able to see find this folder unless they already know where it is.

To Move A Content Item To Another Location On Your Site

  1. Navigate to the folder which contains the item you would like to move. So for example, if you would like to move your "About Us" folder, you should navigate to the Home folder (i.e. the homepage of your site, which can be reached by clicking on the site logo).
  2. Click on the Contents button in the Edit bar at the top of the center area of the page.
  3. Scroll through the list of content in the folder until you find the object you would like to move. Click the checkbox next to its name.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Cut button. A green "success" message should appear saying the item has been cut.
  5. Now (staying on the Contents view) navigate to the folder into which you would like to move the item.
  6. Click the Paste button at the bottom of the page to place the cut item.

Folders are not organized containers - as new content is added to a folder, it appears at the end of the list of content in that folder. You can manually reorganize content within a folder though. To do this, click on the Contents tab while viewing the folder. Click and drag the tabs in the far-left column to move a content item up or down in the folder's listings.
