Updating the Display date of Updated content

On occasion, there is a need to update certain news items or pages. However, in some areas of the site you will see that the content object's date does not change and thus will make end users think the item is older than it is. 


The date that is being displayed is the 'Published' date of the item and not the modified date. In order to have the display date update to a date that is more current, we need to update its 'Published' Date.


In our example, there is an article that needs to have an updated date. The item is the "Message from our Librarian".  On the homepage, we have the display date of August 2010 but the item was recently updated so we would like a more current date displayed in this area.


  1. Navigate to the particular item you want to change.
  2. Click on the Edit tab in the Green Edit Bar.
  3. Click on the Dates tab.
  4. Update the Publishing Date to the desired date and click Save.

  5. The date now displays with the date we entered:
